Do you love covered buttons?

My sister Michele made this amazing tutorial on covered buttons.
Now, these are not your average covered buttons.
These are made from scratch.
No covered button kit required.
So, if you love covered buttons
and don't have the extra money to buy the button kits to make them,
you have to check this tutorial out.

Gathered Clutch, bookmarks, and blocks!!

Hi everyone! I hope you have had a nice weekend. I didn't get to do everything I wanted this weekend. My inlaws needed some help, so I ended up with them most of the day Friday and all day Saturday. I did manage to finish the kids teachers end of school year gift. I made them each a gathered clutch and a bookmark. I think they are really cute. I added some vintage lace and buttons on the bookmarks.

I also finished my blocks for the "Between Charming Friend - Quilt along". These blocks are so cute. They are tiny. Now I just have to put the top together. I made these blocks late last night, after the kids were in bed. B-Sew Cute still has to finish her blocks. That will have to wait until Tuesday, since I work night shift tonight and tomorrow.

Well that's all for today. I have to go rest a bit, since I have to work all night.

B-Sew Cute's blocks started

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share with you the blocks that B-Sew Cute is sewing for the "Between Charming Friends Quilt Along". She has the first 12 blocks done. Now she just has to finish the 16 patch blocks. She has got them partially done. We just have to cut the strips down and sew the 16 patches together. I haven't started mine yet. I had to help B-Sew Cute with hers. She does all the sewing. I do all the cutting and ironing. She's only 10 yrs old. I'm still a little leary of letting her use the rotary cutter. So this is truly a Mother/Daughter project. I had to work today, and will be working tomorrow. I plan to work on my blocks on Friday. I'll see you then.

The BCF Quilt-along update!

Hi everyone! I finally got my fabric cut for the Between Charming Friends Quilt-Along. I was waiting for our background fabric to come in the mail. It finally arrived today. So, I got my fabric cut and also B-Sew Cute's fabric cut. Hopefully tonight we will be able to get started on the sewing and catch up.

Here is B-Sew Cute's cut fabric. She chose Aqua SKU# 9900-34 from Moda's Bella Solids collection as her background color. I just love it. I think it will look great with her "Sweet" Charm packs.
Here is my fabric all cut up. I used White as my background fabric. I decided to use the red polkadot from the Make Life collection for the binding though instead of the white. I think polkadot's look so great as the binding. And it will co-odinate great with my Make Life charm packs.
I also received more blocks in the mail today for my Month of the Sew Modern Bee.
I've received 9 blocks so far. I just love them. This is my first Bee, and I'm loving it. I also love the fact that it's all Canadian girls and we don't have to worry about customs. The shipping is so much cheaper too.
Here are my blocks so far.....

I will be putting sashing in between these blocks. I think they look great. Can't wait to receive the rest of my blocks.

I hope you all have a great day.

My Roundabout quilt is finished!

Hi everyone! I want to wish all Father's a wonderful Father's day.
I finished hand quilting and binding my Schnibbles Roundabout quilt.
I made the top a few months ago and finally got it all done today.
I really love this little quilt. It always makes me smile when I look at it.
It is made from leftovers I had from Snippets fat quarters that I had in my stash.
I even pieced the back with some of the bigger pieces and
used some of the leftovers to do a scrappy binding.
I almost used up all my Snippets fabric. I only have a tiny bit left.
So this was a good stash buster for me, and another UFO off my list. YEAH!!!
 I hope you like it!

A few small projects....

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I was off yesterday and made a few things. The first thing I made was a pincushion for the Pincushion Pass Swap. I can't show the whole thing so that my partner is still surprised. So here's a peak:
Then I made another pincushion for the scrappy pincushion swap. This one is a secret swap so I can show you. I hope my partner likes it. This is my first time making a pincushion out of felt.

I also decided to make a little gathered clutch as a teacher gift. I used Noodlehead's tutorial. I love this little pouch. I still need to make another one for another teacher. But I think I will be making several of these as gifts. They are so cute. I love them.
Well, I hope you like my little projects. I have to work night shift the next three days. So I'm not sure how much sewing I'll be doing. I am working on hand quilting one of my Schnibbles quilts. Hopefully I can get quite a bit of that done.

Has it really been a week?

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted. I've been very busy working and spending time with the family. This weekend I was off work and we had a great weekend together as a family. We went out together many times and it was really great. It was a lot of fun.

On Friday, the LQS's were having their annual shop hop. I wasn't planning on going, but decided at the last minute to go. I put the kids off to school and drove to Brockville and stopped at the two shops there. Then I drove to Harrowsmith and then back to Kingston. I stopped at all 5 quilt shops. They were selling a kit at each shop, to put a quilt together. But it wasn't really my taste. So instead I bought a quilt book at each shop and some fabric. I really enjoyed doing this and bought books I had wanted for a while.
I bought fabrics that were on sale, or ones I just really liked. Some are fat eighths, fat quarters and the larger piece is a metre cut. That one is for my Sew Modern Bee quilt.
You can tell that I love all kinds of different styles of fabric.

I also joined the "Between Charming Friends" Quilt Along. My daughter "B-Sew cute" and I will be doing this together. She wanted to use the two charm packs she received. I thought this project would be easy enough for her to tackle.

I will be using two charm packs of "Make Life."

B-Sew cute will be using two charm packs of "Sweet".
I ordered some aqua fabric for her to use as the background fabric.
She didn't want to use white.
So, once she gets her fabric we will be cutting our fabric.
I'm excited to do this project with her. It should be a lot of fun.
We are making the small version of the quilt.
We are going to be quilting along with Kelly @ Charming Chatter.

Well, I hope you have a great night.

More Jack-the-pulpit blocks completed

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good day. Today I worked on the quilt I'm making for my girlfriend who is getting married in July. I'm kind of falling behind on this project. So, I've decided to put it ahead of the other projects and get these blocks done. I have to make 20 of the Jack-the-pulpit blocks for the center of the quilt. They will all have sashing between them. Then I have to make a flying geese border. The Jack-the-pulpit block takes quite a bit of time to make. Almost 1 hour per block. I'm usually able to find a method to spead up the process for my quilts. But this one is slow and steady. I think it's because it is partly paper pieced. Today I finished 5 blocks. So now I have 10 blocks done. Only 10 more to go. I really love the way they look. I will keep working on these this week. I hope to be able to have the center of the top done by the end of the weekend. Then I'll be able to make the flying geese blocks. I hope you all have a good night.

Modern Siggy Block Swap 2 and Guild challenge Part 3

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.
I didn't do a lot of sewing this weekend. I've been doing a lot of this.
But I did make most of my siggy blocks for the Modern Siggy Block Swap 2. I used some of the Amy Butler fabric that I had. I really like the way they look. I used Kona cotton for the white. I already had some of this white on hand. But I only had enough to make 81 blocks. So I will have to purchase more white on payday to finish my blocks. We need to make 101 blocks for this swap.  I really love this block pattern by Julie at Jaybird Quilts. This block was part of her Moda Bake shop pattern found here.
It is very easy to make and goes really quick. I will definitely be using this block pattern again.
I also finished my table runner for my Guild Block Challenge. This was made using the country blocks. I really had a hard time making this, not because it was a difficult pattern or anything. But my sewing machine kept breaking down on me. It was very frustrating. Nothing was working right. Don't you just hate when that happens. So, it's not my best work by a long shot. Oh well, I don't know what I will do with it, it is too long for my table. It will sit for a while until I figure out what I'm going to do with it.
Well, I hope you all have a great evening. I hope to get more sewing done tonight.
