Working on a scrappy border

I've been working on making a scrappy border for my Rocky Road to Kansas quilt. It's a string border.
I have this huge bin full of scraps. As I'm making these borders, I'm also cutting my scraps using Bonnie Hunter's Scrap User's System. You can find it on her website quiltville.com

This is no small task. I've been working all day at it, and it doesn't look like I've used any scraps from my bin. It's crazy!!! This is what the border looks like.
It really fits well with this quilt. I have one long side done. And quite a bit of the other long side done. I hope to have this top done by the end of the weekend. But no promises!!

Working on my Rocky Road to Kansas top

Hi everyone,

I decided to pull out another old UFO. I had made 21 of the Rocky Road to Kansas blocks several years ago. I had intended this to be a queen size quilt. But honestly, my heart wasn't in it anymore. So, a lap quilt it will be.

I assembled all the blocks in a 4x5 arrangement. I have one block left. I will turn that into a matching throw pillow. I just need to come up with a border for this top. It feels good to have the blocks sewn together. I'm happy with my decision. Hope you like it!!

I have my first finish of 2015!!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm so excited to share with you my finished Summer Dresden Quilt.
These blocks were made for me by the ladies in the Maple Leaf Bee on Flickr. I cut out all the blades for the Dresden blocks using my GO! Cutter then asked the ladies to sew them up for me.

I hand quilted with big stitches and crochet cotton in pink and white.  I'm so glad to have it done. It makes a nice lap quilt.

I hope you like it!

A bit of hand quilting

I've been working at finishing the quilting on my Dresden plate blocks. These were made as part of a bee. I am quilting each block by itself, then sewing them all together as a quilt. I quilted 3 out of 12 blocks this week. I already had 3 blocks done. Now I only have 6 more to do.

I'm back!!!

It's been quite a long time since I've posted to my blog. I stopped quilting completely after my husband had his accident. The only sewing I did was hemming and mending clothing. But a few days ago I decided to take a hand sewing UFO out. You may remember my hexagon star quilt. Well I managed to add two more rows of stars to it this week.

I'm really itching to do some sewing and quilting. It's been over a year and a half since I did any. So I'm back! I'll do a bit at a time. I'm going to try to finish some of my old projects and maybe work on some small new ones just to practice again.

Hugs
