January round up....,

So, what did I accomplish this month?

I finished one quilt.
My Sun Down quilt only needed binding to finish.

I had a finished flimsy.
My Scrappy Rainbow Medallion Quilt is still not quilted. I need to make a backing for it and buy batting. I'm on a tight budget right now. That's why it's not done.

I made a bunch of quilt blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and started making blocks for my En Provence quilt.

I also added a round to my Millefiori quilt rosette #1. I started an improv quarter log cabin crumb mini quilt too.
I also made two pincushions and a needle case for a swap. My swap partner hasn't received the package yet so I'll show those in February.

My quilt related purchases this month totalled $23.73
I bought 1 3/8 metres of fabric. These were all fat eighth.
I'm going to try to keep track of how much I spend for quilting this year. I'll do one post at the end of each month to see how I'm doing. I have a lot of fabric. But most of my fabric is fat quarters or smaller. I don't have much yardage. I also don't have any batting. So a lot of my purchases will be for batting and backings.

Why am I watching how much I spend?
Well, my daughter is going to university in September. She is taking Neuroscience. She loves learning about the brain. Lol! She will be going to school out of town. So the costs are much higher then when my boys went to community college in town. We are paying a chunk of her expenses and she is working towards paying a chunk. It will be about $20000.00 per year for four years. And if she decides to do pre-med after, well it will be even more. So, I'm trying to be good and use what I have. If any of you feel like getting rid of any fabric, scraps or whatever..... think of me. Lol!

En Provence quilt progress...

Hi everyone,

The month is almost over. Time is just flying by. It's crazy!
I don't seem to be getting as much done as I want. But, I've been tired a lot lately, and I think it has a lot to do with the weather. It's been a mild January. We've had a lot of rain, instead of snow. It's been cloudy, humid and just plain crappy. I like snow. It brightens everything up.  The constant change in air pressure has caused me to get a lot of migraines.
Let's hope February is nicer.

Here's my progress of my En Provence quilt. I only have a picture of four blocks, but I have five blocks completed.
I changed the colours a bit from Bonnie's. This quilt is for my daughter, so I used colours she liked. I have five other blocks prepped. I'll keep working on it.

I was hoping to get more done, but life happens. I'm just glad this project is moving forward.

RSC 2017, week #4 - purple

I did quite well this month with my purple blocks.

I finished 30 spool blocks.
These are 3.5 inch blocks, made from my 1.5 inch strips.
These blocks are so cute. I love these.

I also made four 16-patch variation blocks. These used up 2.5 inch squares, and the block is 12.5 inches.
I really like these blocks and the secondary pattern it creates.

I then decided to start making some 6.5 inch plus blocks.
These were also made with 2.5 inch squares and 1.5 inch strips. I only have three of these made. I will need to make more. But that's okay. These are easy and fast to make.

I'm really enjoying participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year.  I hope you like my January blocks. Now I'm excited to see what next months colour is.

Go see http://superscrappy.blogspot.ca to see what the others are making.

Yep! My scrappy medallion quilt top is done!! I'm so happy!! I love it!!

The final border was made with 2.5 inch squares of neutral background fabric.
Now I need to make a backing and figure out how to quilt it!
Hope you like it!!

Scrappy Medallion Quilt Round #6

Hi everyone,

I have finally finished round 6 of my scrappy medallion quilt. I'm loving how it's looking. I just have one more simple round to do and the top will be done.

I hope you like it!

So, I started another project

I had a severe migraine on Sunday and Monday. Today I still had a headache but at least I could function. I stayed in my pjs all day. But I was up. I needed to sew. But didn't want to have to concentrate on anything. So, I took my crumb box and grabbed a handful of crumbs and set them beside my sewing machine. I took two small pieces of fabric, one light, one dark and sewed them together. Cut them apart, ironed them and decided I should make quarter log cabin blocks. I decided to do them one colour each. Almost all the piece of fabric came from my crumb bin except for a few 1.5 inch pieces that were needed to finish a block. I made my blocks 4.5 inches. I couldn't go any bigger because most of my pieces were small. I really love my little blocks.
I'm going to make a table topper quilt with these. I hope you like it.

RSC 2017, week #1, purple

I'm joining in with RSC2017 this year.
This month we are making purple blocks.
The first one I made used a 16 patch block I made a few years ago.
I added a border around it and hst's. I don't know a name for this block. It will finish at 12 inches.

I have also made three tiny spool blocks. I was so inspired by the recent finished spool quilts by other RSC participants that I had to start one for myself. This will be a long term project. But these little blocks are so cute. I love them.
I hope you join RSC 2017 too.

Making progress on one UFO

I have done some hand stitching on my Millefiori quilt.
I'm still working on Rosette #1.
But progress is progress!
I'm happy with how this rosette is coming along.

I'm using all Art Gallery Fabrics. These have been in my stash for a while.
I hope you like it so far.

My Sun Down quilt is done.

I'm excited to finally have this quilt done. This quilt is for my second oldest son Brad. He chose the name of the pattern.

I'm not able to take outdoor pictures as it's very wet and muddy out. It's been raining here for several days.

I had this quilt professionally quilted by Tammy Spencer. She did an amazing job. I love it. I will be washing this quilt today. I will share pics of it after it's washed.
